United Launch Alliance Names Kent Lietzau Vice President of Strategy and Business Development


Centennial, Colo., (Dec. 16, 2015) – United Launch Alliance (ULA) recently named Kent Lietzau as vice president of Strategy and Business Development, responsible for leading ULA’s growth in providing commercial, civil and governmental launch services. 

“We are excited to add Kent to the ULA team,” said Tory Bruno, ULA president and CEO. “His experience in the Air Force and in the aerospace industry over the last 23 years will be influential as our company continues to evolve to make space more affordable and accessible for our customers.” 

Lietzau began his career as a flight test engineer and project manager for the Air Force. In 1994 he joined the private sector, taking leadership roles at Lockheed Martin, McKinsey & Company and Honeywell Aerospace. Before joining ULA, Lietzau served as the director of Strategy and New Ventures, Space Systems Company at Lockheed Martin where he led strategic planning for their $8 billion space and missile business area.

Lietzau graduated from the United States Air Force Academy with a bachelor’s  degree in aeronautical engineering. He also has a master’s degree in aeronautics and astronautics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a Master of Business Administration from Harvard Business School.
